My parents were not malicious people. They were loving and kind people who had been poor and were trying to provide for their family. They didn’t have much money and their house was tiny. They were short on space and had two children to raise. They could not afford to leave one of us alone in the house. The only way they could afford to take care of us was to share food and space.
