The ESFP personality type is one of the 16 personality types identified by German psychologist Carl Jung in his book "Psychological Types" published in 1921. Jung saw the sixteen personality types as being associated with four pairs of opposites: introversion/extroversion, thinking/feeling, sensation/intuition, and judging/perceiving. Jung believed that these four pairs of opposites formed a basis for understanding all of human behavior.
Jung's theory was not widely accepted at the time.
