I'm not so sure about this one. Kaito was very calm and collected throughout the whole challenge and had a good idea of where the other two contestants were coming from. He's not a guy who I would say was out to cause trouble or deliberately try to mess up the game, but as he said himself, people's motivations are not always clear to him.
For example, he was very concerned when Akahori had her accident because he was worried that she would get hurt on purpose or be tricked into going too far. He's also very deliberate in his work and often gets stuck on the small details of things.
This is probably why he had such a hard time with the last question – trying to figure out what is important and what isn't.
