Jackie's parents were divorced when she was just two years old, but she still remembers them sharing a large bedroom in the family home. With her parents' split, Jackie learned that sometimes it's better to stay away from broken people.
While she was still very young, Jackie's family relocated to Iowa, where her father worked for an oil company. Jackie's father was killed in an accident on October 14, 2001, while her mother was pregnant with Christina, so Jackie and her mother lived in Iowa for several years with Jackie's grandparents, while Jackie's mother worked for a local hospital.
It was during that time that she started to develop her own personality type. "I think that my childhood was probably the best one I could have had," says Jackie. "My dad was always there for me."
She remembers him taking her on hiking trips when she was young. "He taught me about nature and how it's my responsibility to take care of it," she says. "He also taught me how to cook the best Mexican food ever.
