Also, as I type this, I’m playing a game of Starcraft 2 (which is one of my favorite games of all time). I’ve been playing this game for over four years now. Before I play a match or even get started, I have to sit down for a minute and think about what kind of unit composition I want to use, what build order I want to use, and what kind of strategy I want to go along with it. Then I put it in front of me on the screen and try to figure out how to execute it. There are times when I try to execute it and it doesn’t work, so I try again. A few hours later, I finally get it right. I feel like that’s what Erian must feel like when she’s writing her novels. She puts a lot of effort into coming up with some great ideas and themes, but then she has to figure out how to turn them into a novel that people will actually enjoy reading.
