The Hulk is a character with a very strong sense of morality and duty. He does what he does for a reason, and that reason is often tied to a larger purpose; he fights because he feels the cause is just and correct, and he destroys because he feels that there are things that need to be destroyed that are wrong. He will not hesitate to sacrifice himself for his cause, and will take quite a bit of pride in his actions. The Hulk has one overriding goal: the total destruction of all of the things that he deems wrong, including himself. The Hulk is what he is because he feels that way, and he will not change it, even if his efforts are ultimately futile.
