He was born on 10 April 1918 in Tehran, Iran. He was the son of a respected Iranian government official. In 1938 he was awarded with a literary scholarship to the University of Birmingham, England. AmirAli Toloei returned to Iran after his graduation from the University and started his career as a writer. His first book to be published was "The Lonely Years" in 1945. After this publication, he became a well-known and respected Iranian author and poet. In 1965 he was elected as the member of Iranian parliament and was awarded with the medal of "friendship of the people". On 10 April 2016 AmirAli Toloei died in Tehran at the age of 97 and was buried in the same city.
