Tonto personality type is ISFP, the introverted, sensing, feeling, perceiving type. Tonto is an excellent example of how the dichotomies of introvert/extrovert and sensing/intuitive (which is a rough approximation of the J/P dichotomy) are not as clear cut as they are sometimes made out to be. However, as we all know, this type is often mistyped. Why is this so?
Well, in the first place it is all too easy to confuse the type of a person with the way they present themselves. There are many people who are not introverted, but who give the impression of being so. For instance the older generation of men who have had many years of experience of working in the offices and with the public. Many of them are very extroverted. However, from their behaviour you would never know this. They can be very reserved in their personal lives. The result is that people mistype them as T-types, because they seem to choose an extroverted behaviour for their public persona. In reality T-types are very introverted. Conversely, many people are not intuitive (S-type), but can come across as so because their behaviour suggests this to observers.
