Both Pignite and Charizard are known to evolve into one another. Charizard is shown to have evolved into Pignite in Pokémon Red and Blue, and later in Pokémon Yellow, HeartGold and SoulSilver. Pignite was also shown to have evolved into Charizard in Pokémon Black 2 and White 2.
In the games
Pignite is a Fire-type Pokémon. It evolves from Charmander starting at level 16 by use of a Fire Stone, evolves into Charmeleon starting at level 36 by use of a Fire Stone, then evolves into Charizard by use of a Charcoal.
Pignite gets an extra level when it becomes a Charmeleon. Its base stats get 1 point higher than the base stats of a Charmander, with its Attack and Defense stats each getting one point higher. Its Special Attack gets 1.5 points higher, while its Special Defense gets 1.5 points higher.
