Manabu Soutouin personality type is ENFP, and he also falls under the "N" (Ne) type. (For the record, I absolutely disagree with Soutouin's over-the-top nature and believe he is a true ENFP. However, this observation is not the point of this article.)
The point of this article is to prove that Soutouin's personality type in the manga is not ENFP. I want to show that Soutouin's personality is in fact ISTJ — and that he is one of the most accurate depictions of the ISTJ character type in anime and manga. There are many ISTJs that play the ENFP role in anime and manga. However, I believe Soutouin's portrayal is more accurate than most of them.
To start, let's go back to the very beginning of the series. In the first chapter of the manga, Soutouin meets with his teacher, who is named Kiyotaka Hayase. The teacher appears to be a ISTJ who uses a lot of humor to get his point across. He also tends to be a bit gruff and has a tendency to be sarcastic at times.
