He escaped from prison and went on the run.
He was living in a trailer behind the boat he used to steal from the rich people. He was taking it apart piece by piece to build a bomb for The Mentalist's plan. He decided to escape when he saw that The Mentalist was stalking Theo. He called The Mentalist and said that he had a gun and would kill Theo if he didn't leave him alone.
