Lala, the most famous of a genre of fictional comics known as shōjo manga or young girl manga, is a sixteen-year-old girl who is literally the "light" of the title. She is an extremely pretty girl, extremely cheerful, and extremely naive. She is naturally good at drawing pictures and has a talent for it. She is very imaginative, and has a great deal of creativity in all things she does. Because of her tendency to "see" things that aren't there, as well as her ability to forget that they're not there, she can be easily led astray. At one point she says "I never know whether what I see is really there or not."
