Over the past 10 years or so, I have been exploring the ISTP world with my friend and fellow author, Mike Cernovich. We have discovered that ISTPs are the opposite of INTPs in many ways.
For instance, we have both observed that ISTPs have a more abstracted way of seeing things. They focus on the facts at hand and see the world in terms of patterns and systems. Their "gut" feelings are often correct.
They tend to be more instinctive, concrete and factual than INTPs who are more abstracted and analytical.
They prefer to work with their hands as opposed to INTPs who tend to work with their minds. They like solving problems rather than theorizing about them. They are more practical than INTPs who are more creative.
They are more objective. They prefer a slower pace of life so they appreciate routine and culture. They like to live by a structure and follow rules. They are more conservative than INTPs who like to explore new ideas.
