Introduction ISTPs are responsible, reliable people who value competence, independence and efficiency. They enjoy their privacy and their autonomy and prefer to do things on their own. They are straightforward, practical, and matter of fact and are often described as "blunt" or "unfeeling." ISTPs are often characterized as being anti-social because they prefer to be alone. They dislike drama and will go out of their way to avoid it. They often find it difficult to connect with others and may feel uncomfortable around people they don't know well. They may appear to be cold or unfeeling, but it is just the opposite. The ISTP's detachment is a protective measure for a sensitive personality type.

The ISTP finds it difficult to express emotions openly, much less feel them.
