The young Tyton was fascinated with all things scientific, and he spent hours observing his toys and trying to figure out how they worked.
By the time Tyton was nine years old, he had mastered the art of reading Braille. His teachers and parents thought he was brilliant, and they made him the student teacher in his class. Tyton was a good teacher, except when he spoke to his students. He could not understand what it was that they wanted him to tell them.
The young man’s parents were concerned about their son, and they took him to see a psychiatrist, who recommended that Tyton be put into an institution for the children who were blind.
