Buck is a spiritual man and I think the fact that he’s really spiritual and is really into this whole idea of ‘the afterlife’ and all of that, it just makes sense to me.
He also has a lot of faith in humanity, I think, which I’ve always had a lot of faith in.
Also, a lot of times, when people are traumatized, they lose a lot of faith in themselves, in other people… and then their own life gets a little bit better. And it’s almost like they’re doing a bit of therapy on themselves to get over it and then they get better.
I think that’s what happens to him in Season 3 – he gets over being traumatized by the person who shot him and he gets over losing his legs and he gets over his anger towards the police. He gets better.
When he does finally get back on his feet again, he has his legs and he’s not angry and he’s still okay. He’s a better person for it.
