Carthago personality type is ISTJ, so I’m not surprised to discover that he’s a little clinical.
His tendency to be a little quick to judge and then, inevitably, to feel disappointed by their actions and their results doesn’t make him an ideal choice for the job, but we all make mistakes. A few years ago, I wrote a book about a young ISTJ who had been hired by the Toronto Police to implement a new system for keeping track of officers. The new system was supposed to help improve police accountability, but the young ISTJ hadn’t read the fine print and thought that his job was just to fill out paperwork. He ended up doing little of either.
When he was caught, he apologized, but I don’t think his superiors were very impressed.
It’s hard to blame ISTJs for this kind of wound. The world is full of people who are eager to praise and flatter ISTJs in the hopes of getting their approval and affection. (And sometimes, if the situation warrants it, a little criticism.
