When he was a little kid, his father forced him to play the piano and he developed a proclivity for it. He was not allowed to go to school until he was 14 because of his "addiction". He was a very good pianist. He learned to read music at an early age and from then on, he had a lifelong love for music. His father died when he was 16 and his mother had to work very hard to support Mark, so she took him out of school and forced him to work as a musician in a band. Mark dropped out of high school and became a full-time musician at the age of 17. He married very young. He was an alcoholic and was an abusive husband. Mark had a child out of wedlock when he was 29. He was a real jerk and an alcoholic. He grew up in a very religious household, Lutheran Protestant. His mother did not allow him to listen to rock music or to read books that were considered "immoral" in her eyes. She told him that God would punish him for his sins if he read those books.
