Daphne Du Maurier was born in 1907 and died in 1989. She was born in Cornwall, England. Her mother died when Daphne was very young, and her father married another woman. Daphne attended boarding schools, including Georgeham Hall School. After this, she spent time in Paris and Berlin finishing her education. She was always interested in writing, and when she was eighteen years old, she began writing short stories. She published her first book in 1928 at the age of eighteen.
