JG: I am a writer, and my true calling is to write a novel, a great novel that will change the world. But I have been so distracted by so many other things in my life that this has been put on hold.
One of the things that I have been focused on over the past year is bringing the character of Alexander to life. In order to do that, I had to find a way to get closer to the real-life Alexander Jellicoe. Because of his relationship with my father, I have been able to get a lot of access to him.
I have been able to read some of his journals, and there had been a few that were in a safe deposit box that I was able to get access to. I found out that he had written an autobiography, and I had the opportunity to read it. What was fascinating was that in the book he documented all of his baseball games and all of his interactions with his father.
You can tell from the book that my father was such a tremendous influence on him.
