My personal experience with a Japanese friend could be a good example of this. He was a quiet type, but he was also very smart. He was very proud of his Japanese culture, and he tried to teach us things about them. We learned a lot from him, and I asked him if he would like to be my Japanese tutor. He told me he would be glad to, but he was too busy with his job to be able to teach me. I respected that, but I thought it would be great if we could at least meet up once in a while and talk about life, the world and everything in between.
I kept on thinking about him, and I kept thinking about the possibility of getting him as my tutor. But I wasn’t sure how he would react if I were to ask him. After several weeks, I finally decided I would ask him if he would be willing to teach me Japanese. To my surprise, he was more than happy to do so and said he would be more than happy to help me in any way he could.
