Simon personality type is ESFP, I’d say ESFJ or ESFP.
And then directing the main character to go to the mirror to see if they are gorgeous is a trick that I’ve seen in a lot of books, but it’s also a trick that people who write “self-help manuals” or “psychology books” use all the time. So it’s not unique to this book.
The next thing I want to talk about is the structure of the book. It really is like a book written by two people, right? So it feels very disjointed and very plotty. The first half is about the main character finding out about the existence of this other version of himself, and then he goes to the mirror, and all of that occurs before the second half of the book, which is about his friend, his best friend, who tries to get him to open up about the other version of himself.
I think part of what makes this book feel so disjointed is that it’s hard to tell where the plot begins and ends in this book.
