"I think that's why I love being a roadie so much," he says. "It's the perfect job for me: I can do it when I'm not feeling great, and when I'm feeling great, I can do it when I'm not feeling great. It's really hard to find a job like that."
In the past he has been known to sneak into the VIP area of shows and watch bands from the mixing desk, or to disappear for long periods during a show to go for long walks in the woods. He does his own sound mixing as well, using old school tape decks and mixing boards that are too heavy for him to lug around with him.
"I'll literally go out into the woods, put my headphones on and just listen to a band," he says. "It's sort of like an out-of-body experience, where I can just disconnect from everything and just focus on the music."
