In Paris, Mao Zedong worked as a journalist and as a translator at the Chinese embassy. In 1923, he joined the Communist Party of China (CPC) and soon became its leader.
In 1927, Mao Zedong returned to China and was arrested by Chiang Kai-shek's government.
