In Series 3 we see Mr. Conductor's personality come out in the personality test, which Mr. Conductor takes. He is asked "What's your favourite subject at school?" Mr. Conductor replies "My favourite subject at school is PE", but he is not sure if this is true. The other option was drama, but he didn't know what this was.
Thomas comes to Mr. Conductor's rescue in the episode, The Fat Controller's Secret, after he overhears the Fat Controller telling the other engines that he plans to demolish the docks to make way for a new branch line. Thomas asks Mr. Conductor if he has anything to do with this, but Mr. Conductor says "No, I'm sorry Thomas. I'm only a railway engine". When Thomas asks why he doesn't say this to the Fat Controller, Mr. Conductor says "Oh well, it wouldn't do any good. He's the Fat Controller."
