"The MBTI is a useful conceptual framework, but it's not a precise predictor of behavior," he said.
The MBTI was created by Katharine Cook Briggs and her daughter Isabel Briggs Myers in the early 1900s. The idea was that there was one human type and that every person could be classified into one of 16 types, which would roughly correlate with the four temperaments: sanguine, choleric, melancholic and phlegmatic.
The MBTI is best known for its popularity in business settings, but the test is also used by psychologists to assign people to the Myers-Briggs categories. The MBTI is not an accurate predictor of personality disorders, however.
