Jessica Atreides personality type is INFJ, so it's pretty easy to see why I have a difficulty with this chapter. The first few times I read the book, I had a hard time with this chapter as an INFJ, but as I've gotten more comfortable as a personality type as an INFJ, I've been able to really understand and relate to this character's struggle with being their own person. I feel that the chapter was almost designed to be a little difficult for INFJs because of the way that Paul Atreides is introduced as a young boy. Paul is a character that is a bit difficult to relate to as a young INFJ, but once you get past the chapter's introduction, it's easy to see where he fits into the story and how he fits into the world of Dune.
This chapter is about Paul Atreides finding himself and finding his place in the world of Arrakis. It's about him discovering his strengths and weaknesses and breaking away from his mother's teachings and beliefs about what he should or shouldn't do. This is a difficult chapter for INFJs because we're not always sure what we're good at doing and what we're not.
Lady Jessica is a fictional character in the Dune universe created by Frank Herbert. A main character in the 1965 novel Dune, Jessica also plays an important role in the later installment Children of Dune. The events surrounding Jessica's conception, her birth and her early years with Leto are chronicled in the Prelude to Dune prequel trilogy by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson. The character is brought back as a ghola in the Herbert/Anderson sequels which conclude the original series, Hunters of Dune and Sandworms of Dune. Lady Jessica was portrayed by Francesca Annis in the 1984 David Lynch film Dune. Saskia Reeves played the role in the 2000 Sci-Fi Channel TV miniseries Frank Herbert's Dune, and was succeeded by Alice Krige in the 2003 sequel, Frank Herbert's Children of Dune. Rebecca Ferguson portrays Jessica in the 2021 Denis Villeneuve film adaptation.
