Quick Draw McGraw personality type is ESTP, and his competitive nature might have come from his father, who boxed professionally. When he was a kid, he would go watch his father practice, and he fell in love with the sport.
"I decided I was going to be a boxer," he told the New York Daily News. "My father [came] home one day and said I can't box anymore. ... I was like, 'What?' He said, 'You're too small.' I said, 'I'm not too small, I can still do it.' So he [went] to the gym with me. He put me in and I fought."
McGraw says he won all of his fights as a teenager.
The next question is what made him decide to start writing books? He says it's because he wanted to be an author since he was in seventh grade.
"I wanted to be a writer since I was 7 years old," he said. "I'd read books and write stories and poems."
During his time as a boxer, McGraw was good friends with Muhammad Ali and George Foreman.
