Natsume Mochizuki’s first appearance was in the manga series, “Watashi no Omocha” (“My Little Sister”). Natsume Mochizuki is the main character of the manga. The story begins with Natsume giving her sister an obi (a sash used for tying up the obi) to wear. Natsume had made the obi for her, but after she started wearing it her sister had become very angry with her. This event is considered by many to be the turning point of Natsume’s life; she begins to understand the world and people around her in a more realistic way. Her personality completely changes after she gives her sister the obi, and she becomes more caring and affectionate towards others.

Later in the manga, Natsume becomes more self-conscious about her appearance, but that is one factor that has never changed.
