I have to say, I have a difficult time believing that. Macklemore has been a vocal proponent of gay marriage, and his music has been very sexually-charged to boot. I think he’s a borderline sociopath.
The whole “rap as a way out of a bad situation” argument is also preposterous. “Clyde Drexler” never happened. And, anyway, if rap albums could be used as a means to escape from a bad situation, all those terrible rappers would have been out of prison a long time ago.
I don’t know how Macklemore managed to get his music on the radio, but I’m not going to pretend to know anything about it. But I think it’s a pretty safe bet that his music is all a ruse.
