The Cultural Revolution (1966-1976) personality type is ENTP, a type that is much more common than the other two. The Cultural Revolution was an intense effort of the Chinese Communist Party to reassert, with the help of the military, economic power over all aspects of Chinese society. This effort was extremely successful and led to many changes in China's social structure, including the end of private ownership of land and the unification of all land in the hands of the state. This process was completed in 1976.
The Cultural Revolution is often referred to as a conflict between the "Red Guard" and the "Green Gang". The "Red Guards" were young members of the Communist Party faction who were in their teens and twenties during the Cultural Revolution. Their goal was to get rid of "bad elements" in society, who they considered counter to the goal of Communism. The "Green Gang" consisted of older, more experienced members of society who had chosen not to join the Communist Party during the 1950s. They did not agree with the Red Guard's methods and fought back against them. The "Green Gang" was under the leadership of four people: Liu Shaoqi, Deng Xiaoping, Yao Wenyuan and Kang Sheng.
