Brook trout personality type is ESTP, or Extroverted Sensing Perceiving. It's not a discovery that's going to surprise many readers, since those with trout personalities are the most likely to fish for trout and those who fish for trout are the most likely to read this book. But I'm more interested in what the psychological and sociological reasons might be for why trout personalities have such a strong tendency to fish for trout (and, in fact, read this book).
The trout personality is purely a function of the environmental conditions and experiences of the trout. It's not, as some might claim, a second personality or a manifestation of innate intelligence. Trout do not have a particular "mental makeup" that predisposes them to be more or less interested in one particular activity. I would suggest that trout personalities are affected by the social context in which they grow up and social experiences they have.
Environment and experiences seem to be the prime influences on trout personality type because they are linked to the shaping of character and socialization. The other type of personality may be more biologically determined, but it is still a function of nurture.
