How did you get involved in the industry?
I started out as a radio broadcaster at the age of 11. I dropped out of high school (at age 16) to pursue a career in radio. I started my radio career at CKLW in Windsor, Ontario and then came to Ottawa in 1980. I was 23 years old when I started my show on the old CFRA station, the Ensign. The Ensign was Canada's first all-sports station, and was a winner in the ratings for several years. I was involved in the production of my show for many years, and took over as announcer in 1992. I learned that there were many fascinating careers in radio and television, from writing and producing programs to working in the newsroom and even anchoring a few shows! It was a wonderful learning experience for me.
What do you love about your work?
I love the people I get to meet at work every day. I love talking to listeners who are interested in sports and entertainment. I love working with my staff at CFRA, who are all great people.
