Jolyon Wagg personality type is ESTJ, and I've read that it may be the most common type among authors. (I think I'm a little bit INTP.)
Everybody has a "type" that makes them more likely to respond in certain ways to various things, and for me it's the ESTJ. If I get feedback on something and it's from an ESTJ, I am more likely to feel convinced of my work's validity and value, and also more likely to feel that what I'm writing is important. If someone else writes something with an ESTJ personality type, my reaction is probably going to be very different.

Needless to say, my advice to any writer is to try and write the way YOU want to write. If you want to write a novel, read as many novels as you can, and write down why you like or don't like each one. And then take what you liked best, and try to emulate it in your own writing.
