I was diagnosed with Aspergers at age 11, and the name just kind of stuck with me. I used to think I was different because I was "weird". I didn't know why I was being singled out or what it meant. I had no idea that I was different than most people. So when I received my diagnosis, I was shocked and embarrassed. I didn't like being special or different. However, after receiving the diagnosis, I started to understand that I was different than most people because I am often misunderstood.
