What is the personality type of The Black Tortoise (lit. Occult Martial)? Which MBTI personality type best fits? Personality type for The Black Tortoise (lit. Occult Martial) from Taoism and what is the personality traits.
The Black Tortoise (lit. Occult Martial) personality type is INFJ, the first personality type of the "Keirsey Temperament Theory".
The Black Tortoise was created by David Keirsey to help understand his theory. Keirsey theorized that INFJs could be understood based on their personality type's primary function (extraverted feeling) and tertiary function (introverted intuition). Though the theory was never "officially" accepted by the MBTI, the theory has been heavily used and referenced in the MBTI community.
Keirsey originally published the Black Tortoise in the book "Please Understand Me II" in 1986. This personality type was based on Keirsey's understanding of how a person's personality type could be expressed in a given environment. Keirsey intended this work to be a supplement to his earlier work "Please Understand Me", and was originally intended to be a part of the second edition of "Please Understand Me". However, it was later included in its own book.
In accordance with Keirsey's theory, the Black Tortoise is characterized by a very strong sense of justice, and tends to focus on these values above all others.
