Ayumi Takahashi (born 7 July 1987) is a Japanese pop singer-songwriter. She was a member of the pop group AAA under Johnny & Associates. She also participated in the Japanese television reality show Idoling!!! in 2009. In 2012, she performed as a solo artist in Japan and released her solo album, Happy End. She has been referred to as a "super idol" for her immense popularity in Japan, having sold more than 3.4 million albums, and been featured on TV commercials and magazines.
Born in Ibaraki Prefecture, Takahashi was an elementary school girl from the age of seven until she was fourteen years old. In middle school, she began writing lyrics and singing at her school's talent show. She attended Waseda University as a freshman but dropped out after three semesters before graduating from high school.
Takahashi joined AAA's first generation of singers in September 2005, alongside Shizuka Kudo, Mio Honda and Koda Kumi. In April 2007, she and Kumi released their single "Manatsu no Sounds Good!", which peaked at number 7 on the Oricon charts.
