Although it is true that Derek's ISFP personality type is described as quiet and shy, he is NOT as quiet or as shy as some ISFPs are. Derek is not shy, he's just a little reserved due to his long-standing habit of not voicing his opinion. He's not quiet, he just prefers to listen before talking. He has a very active inner life and is an avid reader. He also has a good appetite for physical activities and likes to be outdoors when possible. He is certainly not reserved, just a little quiet until he gains confidence in his abilities. And he definitely has a mind of his own!
