“I didn’t know what it was because I didn’t have it as a kid,” Lamb told ABC News. “I was always a talker, and loved to talk and wanted to always be heard.”
The syndrome is passed down genetically, but it can be triggered by a number of factors such as a health condition or even certain medications.
For Lamb, her first brush with LPS was when she was 4 years old.
“I opened my mouth and my tongue fell out,” Lamb said. “This happened for the first time when I had a seizure that may have been caused by LPS.”
Lamb was rushed to the hospital and diagnosed with the syndrome. It was then that doctors said that she would never be able to fully speak.
Lamb’s family didn’t know anything about her diagnosis until she visited the hospital for treatment.
