    Wenceslaus I or in Czech Svatý Václav (c. 911 – September 28, 935), was the duke of Bohemia (921-935). He was assassinated at the age of 24 (approximately), ending his rule.

    Viewed as a martyr, Wenceslaus was proclaimed as a king posthumously. He is also seen as the patron saint of the Czech Republic. He is the subject of the popular carol ‘Good King Wenceslaus’.
