Historical Facts of Heine
Heine was born in Germany in 1812, and died in 1856. He was born into a family of musicians. He showed great talent from a very young age and he traveled Europe to study music, studying with famous composers such as Beethoven, Meyerbeer and Wagner.
In 1831 he went to Paris to study piano and composition, he became a student of the famous piano teacher Clementi. Heine returned to Berlin in 1832 to work as a music critic for the newspaper Rheinische Zeitung.
Heine’s first published work was a collection of short stories called Gedichte und Erzählungen, which was published in 1835. The collection was wildly popular and his fame grew.
