He is mentioned by Sondas Drenim, who said: "Those falls... dangerous place. Derkeethus thought he could find some good fish in the pools. Haven't heard from him in a long while." indicating that he is missing. Hrefna also says to the Dragonborn that he used to take her diving deep in the river, and that she misses him.
