"I always knew that I had a dark history," Saint John said. "I just didn't know how dark it was until I started digging into it. It was almost like I had a dark cloud over my head, which was scary."
As a young man, he struggled with his identity and alienation from his family.
"My first recollection of being a person who felt different from everyone else was when I was 5 years old," he said. "I was in kindergarten, and I had a bad day. I remember sitting down at recess, seeing all the other kids playing, and I just felt completely alone and different."
Later, much later in life, he found out why he felt different — he was adopted.
