Although both are extroverted and love being the center of attention, they differ greatly in how they handle the spotlight.
ESFPs are extroverts who thrive on social interaction and making people laugh. They tend to be more friendly and open-minded than their introverted counterparts.
ESTPs, on the other hand, are more cautious, outgoing and direct. Their extroversion is often mistaken for aggressiveness, but instead, it's a means to help the ESTP make fast decisions.
The ESTP's openness can come off as pushy to the ESFP, who's not as quick to speak up.
"They're a little bit more emotional," says developmental psychologist Dr. Paul Costa, author of "The ESTP Personality Type: An Owner's Manual." "They have a tendency to be a little bit more emotional, and they're not as quick to speak up as the ESFP."
The ESFP, on the other hand, may feel like their ESTP peers don't understand their emotions, which could lead to a break-up with some ESTPs.
