Serana personality type is INFP, which is a so-called “Proximity” personality type. This means that she focuses on the people around her and what they think of her rather than on herself or her own ideas or opinions. She wants the approval of others and will do whatever it takes to keep that approval. But because of her desire to please others, she ends up doing things that she knows are wrong and will end up hurting others; a good example of this would be during the civil war in Skyrim. She agrees to help the Thalmor kill all the people in the city of Markarth, but she fails to do it properly and ends up killing an innocent man.
Another example of her wanting to please others would be when she met up with Solsthiem and they both agreed to give up their powers in order to become more “human” again. She agreed with Solsthiem because she thought that he wanted the same thing she did: to live in peace. She thought that he was just like her and that together, they could make a life for themselves on Solsthiem.
She is also very dependent on those closest to her, especially her mother.
