Kyuhyun was discovered to have been acting in a Korean pop group called The Boys, which was a K-Pop group back in the day. The Boys was a combination of two Korean male groups, Epik High and Shin Hae-Chun, and the two groups merged together for a time.
The Boys debuted in 1999, and released several albums prior to disbanding in 2002. The group was managed by YG Entertainment founder Yang Hyun-suk, who is also credited with discovering Psy and Big Bang Bang Bang Bang Bang.
According to Kyuhyun himself, he was initially recruited into The Boys by his mother. She was a huge fan of the group, and thought that Kyuhyun should try out for a role in a music video.
Apparently, Kyuhyun agreed to do it, but while rehearsing for the music video, he fell sick and had to pull out of filming.
