I have always been a complex woman. From my earliest memories, I was always an outsider. I am not sure what it is about me, but I have always felt different, even when I was still very young.
When I was four or five, I remember being different from the other kids. I didn’t enjoy the same types of games or TV shows, and I often had to take naps when the other kids were outside playing.
When I was in high school, I remember sitting in class, trying to imagine what sort of career I would like.
As a young adult, I knew that I didn’t want to be a lawyer or a doctor, and that I wanted to be a writer. The only problem was that I didn’t know what I wanted to write about.
Eventually, I found myself taking a creative writing class in college. It became clear to me that my fascination with storytelling and storytelling technique was real, and that it would be a great way to express myself.
And so…I became a writer.
