Aoki disagrees with this notion. "That's not true," she says. "People think that INFPs are weak and wimpy, but I think it's very hard to be an INFP."
The most challenging parts of being an INFP, she says, are getting into a rut and becoming isolated from other people. She is the kind of person who prefers working alone, so she often develops relationships with other INFPs. She says she doesn't mind, because other people with similar interests are a lot of fun.
After college, Aoki worked for a while at an internet startup before moving to Washington, D.C. When working in tech, she says, INFPs can sometimes feel overwhelmed and like they're living in a bubble. She decided it was time to leave that world behind.
"I thought about what kind of work I wanted to do, and I looked at my strengths and realized that I wanted to help other people," she says. "I wanted to do something that was more in line with the way I think."
