As I have explored in previous posts, INFJs are naturally inclined toward the more introverted of the personality types. They often find it difficult to connect with others at first, and may even seem distant or closed off to others. But once they get to know someone, INFJs are often incredibly warm-hearted and compassionate. They have a knack for offering words of encouragement, and are often highly compassionate and empathetic. They are insightful and empathetic listeners, and have an uncanny ability to “feel what the other person is feeling” – something that is more cliché than true, but is nonetheless a characteristic of INFJs.
My INFJ boyfriend is a good example of this. The first time we hung out, he told me that he felt like I was just “on” when I was around, and that I seemed to be “too into everything”. He was a little surprised by this, as he had never really spoken with me before. But I told him that it was just my personality – that it was hard for me to be too “into” anything since I tend to always be doing something or thinking about something else.
