Early Life and Education
Moroder was born in Milan, Italy, and is the son of a Swiss father and an Italian mother. He began playing piano at age four and began studying classical music at age six. He was also a child prodigy at composing. At age 15 he wrote his first song, “The Girl from Ipanema,” which was originally sung by his grandmother. He graduated from high school with the best grades in the school and went on to study philosophy at the University of Milan.
